The Blue Room is a dance fusion experience built on the blues. It exists to help bring social dance back to the street and out of the studios and introspective dance scenes. There was a point in time for every dance, when it was simply what people would dance as a social or cultural experience. Some examples of this are Argentine Tango and Swing Dancing. The former started as a street dance that was usurped by the aristocracy and has become what is often seen in dance studios - or even worse, its horrific adaptation known as ballroom tango! Swing dance evolved from Charleston then split into several genres over time: Lindy Hop (the original swing dance), East Coast Swing, and West Coast Swing. There are people who can give a much better history than I can; this blog exists to help advance the dance and return it to the streets - and meld what is known into a fusion that respects all forms of dance, preserving them but also creating something magical that anyone who feels the beat can enjoy.
Give feedback on this block, positive or negative, as you feel the urge to to do so. That is how this blog will move forward. I have a few ideas as starting points and will simply rant until others help define a more clear direction.
